Wireless

The Department of Chemistry provides two wireless networks that are provided through Penn State. These two networks are broadcast as the following SSID's: psu and pennstate.

How to get connected

• The psu wireless does not require the VPN client for authentication and basic connectivity. However, if you need to connect to the Chemistry Firewall you will need to initiate the Chemistry VPN connection.
  

• The pennstate wireless requires the VPN client for connectivity and authentication purposes.
• The VPN client can be obtained from ITS downloads.
• To download the VPN, if you do not have an internet connection yet.
  
• Windows XP 64-bit is not supported by any VPN client at this time.
  
• Configuration information for Windows Vista 64-bit to work with the VPN
• If you use the pennstate SSID you cannot initiate a simultaneous VPN session to access the Chemistry Firewall. It is not possible to initiate a second VPN session while using the VPN.
