Chemistry Mail Settings
Please be aware that the following setting only apply if you are using a Chemistry Network Account to store your e-mail. If you are using CAC's e-mail (email.psu.edu or mail.psu.edu) then these settings do not apply.
The userid in the following examples is your CNA user account name, often your initials.
The recommended settings for accessing Chemistry Network Account e-mail are as follows:
- Return address: userid@chem.psu.edu
- Mail server (incoming): mail.chem.psu.edu
- Login name: userid
- Default port: 110
- Secure Connection for checking select *Never or *TLS, if Available
- SMTP server (outgoing): mail.chem.psu.edu
- Username and password required (authentication required) to send mail.
- Default Port: 25
- Secure Connection for Sending: * TLS, if Available
The more generalized settings for other mail programs are as follows:
- Return address: userid@chem.psu.edu
- POP/IMAP server: mail.chem.psu.edu
- SMTP server: mail.chem.psu.edu
Note: mail.chem.psu.edu supports POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP access.
USING Eudora: (note there are problems with Eudora and you'll need to make these adjustments to your configuration file in order to send mail.)
