The Life Sciences Consortium (LSC) at the Pennsylvania State University seeks to educate graduate students as both independent scholars and as part of a problem solving team through the Intergrative Biosciences Graduate Program (IBIOS).

The program encourages development of new conceptual connections leading to innovative, interdisciplinary, intercampus research in the life sciences. By selecting this program you will increase your exposure to a variety of scientific fields and open the possibilities of internships an collaborations with government, industry and private institutions.

There are nine options within the IBIOS graduate program:

  1. Biomolecular Transport Dynamics
  2. Cell and Developmental Biology
  3. Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Toxicity
  4. Chemical Biology
  5. Ecological and Molecular Plant Physiology
  6. Immunobiology
  7. Molecular Medicine
  8. Neuroscience
  9. Nutrition Sciences

IBIOS graduate students spend their first year in lab rotations before selecting a research project. Dual faculty advisors/mentors are encouraged. During the second year, students have two semesters of supervised teaching. Besides a flexible curriculum, students may chose to participate in a summer internship their first or second year.
