To apply for the Chemistry graduate program at Penn State University Park, please follow the directions below.
Penn State Chemistry Graduate Application
1. Create a Friends of Penn State Digital Identity, unless you already have a Penn State Access Account or a Friends of Penn State Digital Identity. This account will allow you to return to the application and check your status once you have completed the application.
If you forget your password or userid, you may reset your password or lookup your userid.
2. Complete the Chemistry Department Application. As part of the application process you will request three letters of recommendation
The submission deadline for all materials for those who received their B.S. or B.A. from an U.S. Institution is January 15, 2009. The submission deadline for all materials for those who did not receive their B.S. or B.A. from an U.S. Institution is December 15, 2008.
3. Submit required materials:
All Students:
- Official Undergraduate Transcript - two original copies. Use Transcript Request Form (pdf).
- Official Graduate Transcript, if applicable - one original copy.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test scores.
- Three letters of recommendation, to be requested and completed online.
- TOEFL (paper based or computer based) and TSE Score.
- or TOEFL iBT (internet based) Score.
- Application for Visa Document (pdf).

Do not complete the Penn State Graduate School Application unless you are specifically asked to do so.
Graduate School Application and Fee: If you are offered admission to our program, you will then be required to complete the Graduate School Application and pay the application fee. The new application fee effective October 1, 2008 will be $65, non-refundable regardless of the intended date of enrollment.
Please do not send extra materials (i.e. publications, vitae) with your application. They will not be included in the materials viewed by the Admissions Committee. Thank you.
Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate. International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if the records are not in English. Notarized copies are not sufficient, use the appropriate form above.

NOTE: International applicants are exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement who have received a baccalaureate or a masters degree from a college/ university/institution in any of the following: Australia, Belize, British Caribbean and British West Indies, Canada (except Quebec), England, Guyana, Republic of Ireland, Liberia, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, the United States and Wales.
TSE Score (did not receive your B.S./B.A. from an U.S. Institution). Minimum score for consideration is 45. For more information, see http://www.ets.org.
